MP3 & Recording to MiniDisc

The Live! and Audigy do not decode MP3s in hardware using the EMU10K1/Audigy processor, despite the name of the "MP3+" products. All audio players used (like Winamp) will make use of CPU cycles to decode and play MP3s.

The Recording Industry vs MP3

This article from The Inquirer succintly questions the recording industry's claims that all their woes are caused by thieves using P2P file sharing software. Update: A follow-up article (RIAA an undemocratic, unelected, overpowerful regime) was published.

Artist Janis Ian has wrote an extremely popular article on the the state of file sharing and exposes interesting facts about the way the recording industry conducts itself. There is also a follow-up article, as well as an interview at Slashdot.

MP3 Guides

These MP3 guides cover topics like how to obtain MP3 files, use DAE (digital audio extraction) to rip audio CDs to MP3s, the CD-ROM drives to do it, setting the MP3 encoder and how to write them to CD-Rs.

Pause Between Songs Plug-In for Winamp

The Pause Between Songs plug-in enables you to set Winamp to pause a certain number of seconds before moving on to the next track. You can also set it to pause for a random amount of time for easy listening.

4 Digital Outputs?!

The Sound Blaster Live! has 4 separate S/PDIF digital outputs, with each of them carrying stereo (left & right)!

These outputs are available on a I/O card with the Digital DIN output.

The latest SBLive! 5.1 series uses 3 of these outputs to carry 6 channels of information.
