The Future of MP3?
Author: ES Lee

Usage & Performance

To use LAVA!, you really have to access it from it's icon in PlayCenter. Under that icon, you should be able to see the following choices :

  1. Start LAVA! now
  2. Always show LAVA! with MP3
  3. Settings

Clicking on (1) will launch the LAVA! window immediately with the default LAVA scene (Dancing Well") . The other 7 available scenes are :

  • River Rave
  • Ancient Egypt
  • Cyber Circus
  • Hypnosis
  • Surfing
  • Liquid Light
  • Tripple Trance
  • Solar Swirl

Next, all you have to do is to playback any supported media format in PlayCenter ( except VCD ) and the LAVA! scene will dance to the beat accordingly! Piece of cake .....

The 2nd option is enabled by default. This means that any time you playback a MP3 file, LAVA! will launch automatically. If you have a sharp brain, you should be able to see the huge potential now ...but more on that later ;-)

From figure 2 below, you can see that there's a tab called Personalize. Click on that and you can see a control panel where you can customize your LAVA! scene. Included in the control panel are some nifty effects like strobing ( think of it as disco lights ), wireframe, coloured lighting and even a box where you can customize your own message.

If you notice carefully, you can see that in actual fact, you can map your own image files to each individual 3D object in the LAVA! scene. To illustrate, I've customize my own ALive! LAVA! scene with a guest appearance by Miss Rinoa from Final Fantasy VIII herself !!!! Boy.... do I have good taste ....ha ha
