A year later, Cambridge SoundWorks followed up with the much improved DTT2500. In this article, we'll take a look at it from many perspectives - from the included hardware, to the installation, the sound quality, the connection options and the many ways one can use it. By no means is this a product that only works with Creative hardware. We'll also reveal an undocumented feature, explore the many connection options, and find out how this beast actually works! So let's get on to it! UPDATE: The DTT2500s have ceased shipment around October 2000, and have been replaced by the similar PlayWorks DTT2500 which adds an optical input. See the contents bar on the right side for the pages available in this article.

This system has loads of functions and the sound quality is great for games and movies. AC3, Pro Logic and EAX all rocks my house. But If I'd change anything on this system it would have to be the lack of mid range sounds. |

Everyone who comes by (and almost all my friends are audiophiles!) is really impressed with this system! I leave my system running MP3s in my basement and the subwoofer cranks out the bass so much that it is distracting when I am upstairs! It may not set your walls to crumbling in a large house, but in my townhouse, the neighbors know when I am kicking tail in TFC or when it's time to hear some classic rock!! The only problem I have is that the settings aren't saved when the unit is powered off (or at least make 4 point the default!) DVDs rock on this unit as well! The Matrix, Starship Troopers, Stargate, and just about anything else are incredible to hear in Dobly! Get 'em! |

The first thing you'd think when opening the box is: how did the people of Creative Labs managed to put so much stuff in the box? Folks, the box contains a lot of parts which are perfectly wraped and ordered in small acrdboard cabinets. The installation process can be a bit long (about an hour if you really take things slow), but is rather simple and straightforward once you follow the manual. Placing the speakers and adjusting them is a breeze. It is when you start to utilize the speakers by playing some music when you realize how amazing the system really is. My CD's, MP3's and MIDI files never (and I mean never EVER) sounded so crisp and clear. The EAX is very well implemented, causing the listener to be drawn into the scene where the music is playing, at least, I felt it with my SBLive. Superb! :) I like loud music/sound effects just as much as anyone else, and yeah, this system delivers the goods. I could not go over 60% of main volume and 50% of the sub since my room (4 meters by 4 meters by 3 meters in height) would shake. My neighbours asked me if I've started an earthquake without asking their permission. :) this baby is loud, folks! I have still not tried the AC3 sound since my DVD ought to reach me by next week, but if it's as half as good as the "regular" sound, I'm in fr a treat. My bottom line? Go and buy it. It is by far the best product for its value range. AWESOME. :) |

This speaker system rocks! It doesn't quite rival home systems, but neither was it intended to. I was impressed by the attention to detail as far as mounting hardware and installation. Much thought went into this system. By far, the best speaker system for the PC on the market today. |
