Sound Blaster Extigy Launch
Moving Out of the Box

The Shrine

When we heard that there is a "shrine" right in the building, we had to take a look! The name actually came from journalists in Singapore, who had the chance to visit it during the Audigy launch.

The shrine is actually a sound proof room that Creative built to showcase the Audigy. It is stuffed with some really expensive equipment like tower Cambridge SoundWorks speakers, a huge and very expensive plasma display and lots of digital audio equipment. Wish I had them in my home!

For this launch, Creative had a Toshiba notebook hooked up to the Extigy. Of course, the Inspire 5300s were used again.

A quiet, sound-proof environment can really bring out the good in audio equipment but can also quickly expose the flaws. When several 5.1 and stereo audiophile tracks were played, the 5300s sounded crisp and clear, and demonstrated respectable bass for the woofer unit's small size.

The 5300s didn't sound as good in the large hall which held all the different demo setups, compared to this small room. If you have a small room, the Extigy coupled with a multimedia speaker system can be a very cost effective audio solution.

In Conclusion...

It was an interesting launch for a landmark product in Creative's history, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We hope that you've enjoyed reading this report as well!

Thanks to everyone at Creative Technology Ltd and Golin/Harris International for giving us an opportunity to attend the launch.
