Eric Sauvageau contacted me regarding new drivers that Creative has recently been packaging with their new shipment of OEM cards. The version from Gateway is 5.12.1.3041, while the newer ones are 5.12.1.3110. Here's Eric's experiences with the drivers: Seems quite reliable so far, hibernation works fine (aside from my PPPoE NDIS driver having issues with it). Volume is much louder than with the VXD driver (too loud even, I have to keep my speakers almost at their lowest volume setting), EAX seems to work fine in Baldur's Gate II. Problems so far: if I change the volume in WinAmp, then it affects the Wave setting in the audio mixer rather than just WinAmp's own volume (so everything using the Wave device will be affected). Using "Alt Volume Setting" in WinAmp Output plugin fixed it, but now there's a 1 second delay before WinAmp reacts to volume changes. Another issue that might have been related to a bad installation on my part was that Windows couldn't see my Wingman Extreme joystick. I fixed it by applying an update taken from Gateway's website which was fixing that specific issue (file 7509935.exe). Overall, I'd say the drivers still need a bit more work, must be why they haven't been released on the web yet. Probably released with the cards already just to fulfill Windows's HCL requirements (WDM drivers). But overall they are still reliable enough to be used, especially if one really wants hibernation to work. Warning: Creative has not released these drivers officially, perhaps because they have not been fully tested? I have not tested these drivers personally, so try at your own risk! If you have tried the drivers, tell us more about your experiences. [Download 5.12.1.3110 Drivers (WinMe & Win2k Only) (2.2MB)]

3110 drivers doesn't work for me on Advanced Server. also i have tried others drivers but it keep giving me data invalid error. grrrr what could be ? |

I used the 3110 WDM drivers in WinME and the only problem is that a bunch of junk comes up when I launch the creative recorder. It goes away when I put the VXD WinME drivers back on and reappears when I install the WDM again. The recorder still works as well as all of the entire set of LiveWare apps from the install CD. Hibernate works. In Win2k I can't tell any difference between the official 3107 drivers and the unofficial 3110 drivers. |

Well, The drivers did solve the hibernation problem, as well as for the power button which now properly shutting down windows. However, This drivers has some serious bugs inside. After installing them I can't run the suround mixer anymore. I get a "faild to load plugin" error. and for some reason the Line-in is not working anymore. |

Well, i don't know what drivers exactly (will check when i get home) i am using, but what i know is that i am not quite happy. Here's a list of problems.
Note for the first post!!! Migrating to win2000 from 95 OSR was not so good for the support of the LIVE blaster. |

I, being the only one who doesn't get EAX in 98/Me (but in 2k), was quite overjoyed of seeing these new drivers. Didn't help me out, though. But i tried this: 1. Install WDM drivers in Millenium. And it WORKED!. Real good 3d and eax effects. Anyone got any ideas? |

I tried the new WDM drivers on my Live!Platinum. Sound is clear and very loud and I had to push down volume levels. Crackling sound flown away in almost every game I played. Unfortunately, I returned to previous version because stand-by doesn't work anymore as well as hibernation mode makes WinME to freeze. |

I am installing them on a Win 98 SE VIA chipset computer with SB Live Value. After a bit of fine tuning the computer booted up without the dreaded BSD.
I don't have ACPI activated in BIOS so I can't comment on the whether hibernation will work on Win 98 SE utilising WDM drivers. However, the thing I do like about the WDM drivers is that is gets rid of red X, and eliminates SB16 emulation from the device manager. Well all I can say is that the drivers work OK on my computer, so if your game, give them a go. |

Yes, this unofficial WDM drivers works on my SB Live! Value card. But as my card is 1st Value rev. it was not in PCI id list in INF file of this driver release, so I had to 'hack' it (INF). Now it works fine. Although its 'louderness' is annoying. Hibernation works ok - it is realy excelent feature! |

Anyway, I have the new drivers installed in windows 2000. They seem to interface well with Liveware 3 for W2K. I never had any of the crackling problems others have complained about, but I cannot see any obvious improvements in these drivers. That said, at least nothing is worse than in the last version. Still hoping for some really first-class drivers from creative. |

Downloaded and installed the 5.12.1.3110 unoffical driver set from your site. Used on a Win2K/SP1 installation. Some older games seemed okay but others like Microsoft's Combat Simulator II would have very bad sound stuttering in game. Everything else seemed ok. Bootup time to desktop seemed to take a second or so less. Will return to previous version to regain sound quality back. |

I tried the new WDM drivers on my WinME. Unlike the old WDM drivers, these actually worked for me. I was able do load my 32MB bank without the LiveWare freezing. The unpleasant thing about it is that the WDM drivers take up some 12.5MB of the soundfont memory and dont even show for what. So when I load my bank it takes about 45MB of my 128MB RAM, and thats too much. The worst problem was though, that with those WDM drivers my Celeron 500 seemed to overload really fast, like when i played an MP3 it would stop for a second every time i started an application (e.g. the IE). I switched back to the VXD drivers due to this issue. |

Just tryied with windows Whistler Beta 1 2296.1 and i must to format and re-install !!! |

The WDM drivers work fine with WinME, and SBLive value (CT 4832). Hibernate works fine. DOS legacy support isn't perfect, it emulates a SBPro 2 card, and there are a few programs it doesn't work with. In contrast, the SBLive 3 WinME legacy drivers work with everything I've tried. |

The WDM drivers allow hibernate to be enabled by WinME, but upon waking up, the system freezes. I was using mainboard audio on my Asus K7M and hibernate was working fine until I put in the SBLive Value. I always format and reinstall when changing hardware, so the VIA audio drivers are not conflicting. Also, I did disable audio in the bios. |

I tried the new unofficial WDM drivers with Windows 2000. Hibernation does not work for me because of my SW1000XG driver. The new driver fixed my EAX problem with Dungeon Keeper II. However, now I have stuttering sound when I run Dungeon Keeper II. |
